Various other ways to give to
Health Aid UK
While big cash donations are very welcome, sometimes people want to help Health Aid UK by donating things, rather than money, or by doing volunteer work. This kind of support is also very welcome!
Here are some ideas.
Donations in-kind
stuff - for the charity shop in Rochdale
equipment and vehicles for Romania
Volunteer your time
in the UK
in Romania
Corporate sponsorship
ideas for corporate giving
Personal sponsorship
do a sponsored marathon, swim or whatever
Stuff for the charity shops in Rochdale?
For example:
-
Good quality clothes (not just children's clothes).
-
Bric-a-brac (or antiques!).
-
Books (in good condition)
-
CDs and cassettes
Most of the clothes are sold in the shop, with the profits going to support our work with the children in Romania. Sometimes, we actually take childrens clothes from the shop out to Bucharest for the children (although we only do this when someone is travelling there anyway, as otherwise the transport costs make this uneconomic... i.e. it is better to sell the secondhand clothes in the UK, and use the money to buy clothes locally in Bucharest).
In the unlikely event that you live in or around Rochdale and don't know where there is a Health Aid UK charity shop, feel free to contact our shops co-ordinator on 0176-640 349.
We are open Monday to Friday, 10am-4pm
Equipment and vehicles for Romania
Here is what we need at the moment (we will update this list from time to time)
Equipment (all new, please)
-
New beds - bunks
-
Wardrobes self assembly
-
New kitchen units
-
Musical Instruments (keyboard, guitars, violins, woodwind)
Vehicles
-
(left-hand drive)
-
A Landrover Defender (left-hand drive)
If you can help, please contact Health Aid UK in Rochdale or Health Aid Romania in Bucharest.
Volunteer work in the UK
If you would like to work as a VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISER, we would love to hear from you, so please contact us.
There are lots of ways in which you can help Health Aid UK to raise funds:
For example:
-
Get you school involved.
-
Get your church involved.
-
Get your company involved
If you have the appropriate skills, you may like to become a volunteer fundraising co-ordinator, to find new schools, or new churches or, or companies to start supporting Health Aid UK.
Finally, if you happen to live near Rochdale... where the Health Aid UK Charity Shop is located... you may like to work as a volunteer in the shop.
Volunteer work in Romania?
Unless you have very specialist skills, if you don't speak Romanian there's not so much you can do a volunteer in Romania.
If you DO have specialist skills, e.g.
-
You are a doctor
-
You are a nurse
-
You are an engineer or craftsman builder
-
You are an experienced trainer
-
You are an expert fundraiser
Then we would be most interested in hearing from you.
Volunteers are expected to pay their own flights, insurance and subsistance expenses, although we are happy to help specialist volunteers to look for sponsorship for their mission to Romania.
When we accept specialist volunteers to work in Romania, we usually provide accomodation in the Bucharest.
If you DO speak Romanian - or perhaps you ARE Romanian - and would like to work as a Health Aid volunteer in Bucharest, please contact Health Aid Romania direct in Bucharest.
Ideas for corporate giving?
Do you work for a company? Please help get your company involved with the work of Health Aid UK.
There are lots of ways to get involved, large and small, e.g.
-
The company football team wearing Health Aid T Shirts
-
A simple collection tin in the reception area
-
The company buying Health Aid Christmas cards
-
Inviting staff to donate 2-pounds-a-month direct from their salaries
-
Your company may even agree to buy us a 7th Family Group Home!
If you would like to get involved, please contact contact Health Aid UK in Rochdale.
Do a sponsored... whatever... for Health Aid UK
Do you run marathons? Do you swim? Do you jump out of helicopters?
Whethere you already do one of these activities, or whether you are just thinking about doing it for the first time, you can run, swim or jump and support Romanian children with HIV and AIDS at the same time.
Here are some ideas:
-
A sponsored run
-
A sponsored swim (schoolkids are good at this)
-
A sponsored shave half of your beard off (dads can be good at this)
-
Sponsored bungee jump (lunatics are good at this)
The possibilities are endless!
If you would like to do these on the behalf of Health Aid UK, please contact Health Aid UK in Rochdale, and we will do everything we can to support you. We are even thinking about a special page on this web-site with the names of the people will be participating in forthcoming sponsored events on the behalf of Health Aid UK.
